Scottish Community Safety Network
About Us
What is the SCSN?
The Scottish Community Safety Network (SCSN) is the national forum for officers who are responsible for developing strategic work on community safety in partnership with others.
Why have a Network?
Crime, fear of crime and other community safety issues are major concerns in many local communities. Because of this the promotion of community safety is now a major priority for both national and local government. Local authorities are playing a lead role in developing partnership approaches to community safety, along with agencies like the police, the fire service and local health boards.
Making communities safer is a key task for whole range of agencies in the public
Making communities safer is a key task for whole range of agencies in the public, voluntary and private sectors. Local councils are well placed to ensure that this is achieved through action in a broad range of areas, such as employment, education, housing, health, social inclusion, local regeneration and community planning.
SCSN has been set to help Councils and their partner organisations to do this.
By pooling our knowledge and expertise, we can help make sure that community safety is given a high priority by all the key agencies. We will also help to ensure that they work together, in partnership with local communities, to make real and lasting improvement to people's feelings of safety.
